Easy to Make

Dscn5378

This is great way to use some of those leftover beads. You will need: Three pieces of waxed linen cut in five foot lengths. (You can use other cording, as long as it is not to thick.) Assortment of beads with hole sizes that fit the cord. A ring that has an opening large enough to fit up to six strands.

Start by folding the cord in half and and thread the folded half through the ring from underneath. Then take the opposite end of the cords and feed through the center of the folded cord, pulling to form a noose.

Size the cord and ring around you neck and make sure you knot beads at the desire lengths. Also make sure that you beads fit through the center of the ring. This is how you wear the necklace. (No clasp required)
I only put a single overhand knot on the bottom of the bead to hold it in place.

Keep knotting beads onto all six strands. I will double knot the very bottom beads and add a touch of jewelers glue. Everytime I wear this at the store, customers scoop up the supplies, it's fun to wear and easy to make. Enjoy!

Cute, cute, cute! What a great way to use up those left over beads and bits. Good one!

With the price of precious metals going crazy (not to mention the havoc mining creates for the environment) I really think designs like this are really going to be what people will want for the forseeable future. I think it is beautiful!

Thanks Mary Ellen and you're so right about the price of metals these days. I think I might turn this into a kit. It's easy enough to make.

Oh beautiful!! I'll have to use this idea for showing off my handspun silk! I love figuring out ways to use my pretty handspun yarns/cords :)

Thank you for sharing this!

This is so beautiful - thank you so much! I love yours and will bookmark this tutorial for future reference!

Great idea. I will have to get my wife to check this out and have a go.

How do you find the rings for the thread to go through? All I could think of was a big washer, which would work but wouldn't be near so cool-looking...

Or is this something you can just find at a beading store? I might have just missed them, as I wasn't looking.

Thanks!

Kate, The ring in this example is a brass component that we (ohiobeads.com ) plated with an antique copper finish. We are sold out, thanks to this necklace. More will be coming in soon. You could however use a gemstone donut with a diameter of 1 to 1.5 inches. Beadstores would have various rings to choose from. I saw this made with vintage lucite rings and sea glass and it was beautiful.
